Loring Franklin Snook, son of Forrest Franklin and Mary Elizabeth (Jones) Snook, was born May 4, 1908 at Grand River, Iowa and died May 6, 1988 at the Clarke County Hospital, Osceola Iowa, age 80.

Loring attended Westerville and Grand River grade schools, and graduated from the Beaconsfield High School in 1927. He attended the University of Northern Iowa, the University of Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University with B.S. and M.S. degrees.

During World War II Loring was director of training schools for War Manpower Commission, the Eastern Seaboard Division.

He was married to Eva Walters on April 25, 1947.

He taught, coached and was superintendent at schools in Exline, Benton, Lineville and Van Wert. After the closing of the Van Wert School, he taught building trades at Ft. Madison High School and Burlington Junior College until retirement. He came out of retirement in 1977 to be principal of the Kellerton High School. A total of 35 years was spent in public education.

For the past few years he worked each spring for the Decatur County Tax Board of Review. He was a member of the Elks, Masons, Shrine, an alumni of Psi Chapter of Kappa Delta Ph (an education honor society), and Chi Phi Theta Fraternity.

Survivors include his widow Eva, Grand River, Iowa; two sons: Anthony and wife, Carol, Des Moines, Iowa and Loring Franklin Jr. and wife, Jean, Riverside, CA; 4 grandchildren, brother, Darwin Snook and wife Lucille, Grand River; aunts: Katherine Daughtery, Merino CO and Ada Hoffman, Murray, Iowa; other relatives and friends.

Transcriber's Note: Loring married 1st Illa Ladman who died in 1946. Illa, Eva and Loring were interred at Westerville Cemetery.
