OBITUARY ~ CHARLES EVERETT "CHARLIE" "CHUCK" GORMAN
September 29, 1926 ~ April 19, 2001

Charles Everett Gorman, son of Lloyd Everett Gorman and Anna Belle Stabe Gorman was born on the old Gorman homestead in Kellerton, Iowa on September 29, 1926. He died at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday, April 19, 2001 at the age of 74 years, six months and 19 days.

Charlie grew up and lived his entire life in Kellerton, Iowa. Charles was united in marriage to Jo Ann Lorraine West in October of 1946. To this union two children were born, Gerrie Kay and Kim Jeffrey.

Charlie and Jo Ann made a home in Kellerton together for nearly 50 years. During this time Charlie hauled lime and rock for the farmers and towns in surrounding counties. He worked for E. I. Sargent's out of Des Moines. He continued to work with trucks until he and Jo Ann retired in the 1990s.

Charles was active in the Odd Fellow Lodge in Kellerton. He was a member of the Rebekah Lodge Kellerton Drill Team for many years. He helped win many honors in Iowa and nearby states when they performed.

Chuck, which he was also called, was a member of the Kellerton Fire Department in early years and many other local organizations.

Charlie became a member of the Kellerton Methodist Church in the 1960s.

Charles is survived by his daughter Gerrie Kay Blessing of Oregon; son Kim Jeffrey Gorman of Des Moines; six grandchildren: Mickey Jo Reynolds, Terrie Jo McDonald, Toni Jo Blessing, Tom Oron Gorman, Kiley Michelle Gorman and Jonathan Lloyd Gorman.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 21, 2001 at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr with Pastors Terry Roberts and Rick Titus officiating. Casket bearers were Ronnie Reynolds, Dave Rainey, Ron Rainey, Sam Merrill, Danny DeVries and John Worthington. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Hoffman and Jack Hughes.

Charles was laid to rest in the Maple Row Cemetery, Kellerton.
