November 16, 1922 ~ March 29, 2016Dorothy May White, daughter of George Vasey and Lovie May (Pile) Vasey was born November 16, 1922 in Ledyard, Iowa and passed from this life Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Mount Ayr Healthcare Center at 93 years of age.
Dorothy received her education in Truro School System. She was united in marriage to Lelan Franklin White on October 25, 1939 at Indianola, IA and 5 children; Wayne, Dale, Alice, Larry and Rick blessed this union.
She enjoyed being foster parents to several children (close to 100 foster children over the years). She was very fond of her animals, raising her chickens, selling the eggs; always had goldfish and birds; and her dog Frisky was always by her side. She enjoyed cards and checkers with friends and family and always listening to country music on Lawrence Welk Show or on the record player. She had a love for all kids and was known to always have ice cream and candy for everyone.
Dorothy was baptized in Lacona, IA. She lived 18 years in Garden Grove and approximately 40 years in Grand River and then the past 2 1/2 years in Mount Ayr Health Care Center.
Those relatives who preceded Dorothy in death were her parents; husband, Lelan White; daughter-in-law, Kathy White.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory; son, Wayne (Cathy) White of Garden Grove, IA, son, Dale White of Eagleville, MO, daughter, Alice (Tom) Tabb of Liberty, MO, son, Larry (Diane) White of Garden Grove, IA, son, Rick White of Grand River, IA; grandchildren, Melissa (Pat) McAlexander of Ellston, IA, Beckey (Andy) McAlexander of Ellston, IA, Chris (Miranda) White of Grand River, IA, Jesse White of Grand River, IA, Jeff White of Garden Grove, IA, RaeEllen Cloke of New Virginia, IA, Felicia White of Garden Grove, IA, Tammy White of Des Moines, IA, Steve White of Des Moines, IA, Dale D. White, Jr., Kevin White of San Jose, CA, Thomas (Heather) Tabb of Holts Summit, MO, David Tabb of Capetown, South Africa, Daniel White of Garden Grove, IA as well as many great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Services were held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Saturday April 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Dwayne Henrichs officiating.The family greeted friends one hour prior to her services on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Kale Funeral Home. Interment is in the Peru Cemetery, Peru, Iowa
