Funeral services for Darl Herman Bell, age 83, of Clearfield were held Friday, Oct. 26, 2001 at United Methodist Church in Clearfield with Rev. Len Garrison officiating. [Died Oct. 23, 2001]
Music was provided by Patty Parrish and Chantelle Jennett.Casket bearers were Rod Bell, Scot Miller, Randy Miller, T.J Parrott, Steve Carter, Mike Carter, Billy Stuart, Dan Adamson, Doyle Hancock, Doug Sobotka, Billy Flowers, Carlos Trevino and Brett Sickels.
Interment was in Clearfield Cemetery. Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Darl was born Jan. 3, 1918, north of Stringtown, Iowa. He was the son of Herman C. And Clara Belle (Eckels) Bell. He attended school in Stringtown, and then moved to Kent in third grade. He finished school in Clearfield.
He married Margaretta Stutesman on Dec. 7, 1938. They had three children: Gaylan, Richard and Sherry.
Darl worked at the Clearfield Elevator and for George Bailey until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1944. He was in the Navy for two years, then came back to Clearfield and carried rural mail until 1951. He then moved to Creston and continued to
carry mail until he retired and moved back to Clearfield in 1974.He worked for the funeral home and was the "P.R. man" for the Town & Country Cafe.
He was Clearfield Mayor for two terms and served on the city council for many years. Darl was a volunteer fireman and ambulance driver. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Lions Club, Board Member of the Clearfield Housing, Clearfield Development Corp. and Lenox Ambulance.
Survivors include two sons, Gaylan (wife Linda) Bell of Clearfield and Richard (wife Kay) Bell of Kirbyville, Mo.; daughter Sherry (husband Monte) Parrott of Afton; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Delpha Bell of Green Valley, Ariz.; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Margaretta in 1992; a brother, Martin; a sister, Eula Campbell; a niece and a nephew.
