Beck, Henry George -
Funeral services for Henry Beck, age 102 of Lenox, were held Saturday, August 4, 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Lenox with Pastor Don Frizzell officiating. Interment was held in the Clearfield City Cemetery. Memorials can be directed in his name. Services were conducted by the Ritchie Funeral Home of Lenox.
Henry George Beck was born Sept. 7, 1898, the son of Johannas Beck and Katerina Stanger Beck. He was born southwest of Lenox. He passed away on August 2.
Henry completed school through the eighth grade. He was married to Laura Baker in 1922. To this union one child, who died in infancy was born. He later married Pearl Baker on Dec. 22, 1927 in Mt. Ayr. To this long lasting union five children
were born. Henry and Pearl lived on the family farm all of their married life until moving to Taylor Ridge estates last November.
Henry was involved in Roosevelt's Hog and Corn Program in 1933 - an AAA farm program. As township committeeman, his job was to count hogs and measure corn.
Henry loved helping with farming after his retirement. Flowers, apple trees and politics were just a few of the loves of his life.
He joined Calvary Methodist Church as a young man and later transferred to Lenox United Methodist Church, where he faithfully attended and was Sunday School superintendent for many years. He was school board director of county school
Platte No. 5.
Henry is survived by his wife Pearl of Lenox; a son Reldon (wife Margaret) Beck of Las Cruces, N.M.; three daughters, Vaunceil (husband Lowell) Brott of Clearfield; Marilyn Wren of Indianola, and Carolene (husband William) Walter of
Indianola; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Preceding Henry in death were his parents; his first wife Laura; an infant at birth; a twin son, Melvin; five brothers, Adolph, Will, Charles, John and Daniel; five sisters, Lena, Rose, Flora, Mary and Emma; and son-in-law Max Wren.
