Alexandria Poortinga was born February 10, 1957 in Osceola, Iowa, the daughter of John P. Pirtle, Sr. and Margaret B. Poortinga.Alexandria grew up in the Clearfield area and graduated from high school in 1975.
She obtained a two year nursing degree at Iowa Western College, graduating in 1978.She loved animals, especially her horses and many dogs and became certified to train drug dogs. She loved the outdoors and most of all, her family.
Most of all she loved her kids, and was known to be very protective of them. She was a member of the Clearfield United Methodist Church.She is survived by her mother, Margaret Pirtle of Clearfield; two daughters, Dani Irish Fahey and Andi Erin Hargin, both of Bedford; a sister. Simmerman, Tim Simmerman and wife Heather, Kelly Durie and husband Steve and son Garret and Darby Summers and husband Jesse; two brothers Garrett Pirtle and wife Donna of Clarinda, their children Clint Pirtle and Heidi Ellison, Lindsey Pirtle, Dawn Freshour and Kisha Freshour, Corey Pirtle and Jamie Poland; John Pirtle and wife Janis of Clearfield and their children, Erika and Erin; an aunt, Shirley Poortinga Collins; three uncles, Bud Poortinga and wife Peggy, Ted Poortinga and
George Pirtle.Preceding her in death were her father John and her grandparents.
Services were held Sunday, July 25, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield, IA with the Rev. Al Rusk officiating.
Music was provided by Carol Cason, Kathy Nelson, Terry Dougherty, and Dennis White.Pallbearers were George Haidsiak, Allen Brown, Carroll Baker, Ray Dean Larsen, Dwayne Cason and John Lyddon.
Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery at Clearfield, IA. [Died July 22, 1999]
