OBITUARY ~ MARY TRIGGS, MOUNT AYR
MOUNT AYR - Mary TRIGGS, 101, of Mount Ayr died Nov. 19, 1998, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.
Services will be 2 p.m. Nov. 22 at First Baptist Church in Mount Ayr. The Rev. Diana HOLLAND will officiate with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr. There is open visitation after noon Saturday with the family receiving friends 7 to 8 p.m. at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe Street, Mount Ayr. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church.
Mrs. TRIGGS was born April 20, 1897, in Kerrs Creek, Va., to John N. and Anna Ruth (SHAFFER) BLACK. She graduated from Redding High School. On Feb. 28, 1917, she married Henry Martin TRIGGS at Pleasant Hill Church in Middle Fork Township. She was a farm wife, homemaker and seamstress. She lived in Ringgold County for the past 92 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Ayr, former 4-H leader and Neighborhood Club member.
Survivors include a son, Duane (wife) Iona TRIGGS of Mount Ayr; a sister, Dorothy HOLMES McDOWEL of North Henderson, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Ruth HOLMES of Mount Ayr; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Alidene TRIGGS BASTOW; a son-in-law, Robert BASTOW; a grandson-in-law; a grandson; two sisters, Lottie STEPHENS and Bearl BLACK; and three brothers, Carl and Ernest BLACK and Wilson HOLMES.
