OBITUARY ~ WILLIAM M. TEMPLE, JR.
August 11, 1933 ~ May 28, 2012

William M. TEMPLE, Jr., went home to his Lord and Savior on May 28, 2012, at the age of 78 after a 25-year battle with Parkinson's disease in Joplin, MO. He was born on August 11, 1933, in Stansbury, Missouri, to William M. TEMPLE, Sr., and Mildred Louise TEMPLE. He grew up in Conway, MO, and graduated from Conway High. He graduated from Ozark Christian College in 1955 with a degree in ministry. He was married on May 31, 1953, to Barbara Lee WHITED.

Ordained into ministry in 1953, Bill served as a bi-vocational minister at the Christian Church in High Prairie, MO; Prairie Grove, MO; Louisburg, MO; Protection, KS; Albany, KY; Martinsville, VA; Kellerton, IA; Mercer, MO; Allerton, IA; Powersville, MO; and New London, IA. He also was the minister for many years at the Leon Baptist Church in Leon, IA.

During all his years of ministry he held various revivals, church camps and Vacation Bible Schools. Bill also worked in residential appliance repair work for Hughes Appliance in Corydon, IA, before he started his own business in commercial refrigeration. Teaching himself the business, he established Temple Refrigeration (1970-1984) in Corydon, IA; then moved his business to Columbia, MO, where he owned A&O Mechanical (1984-2004). During his years of operation he taught his son and both son-in-laws the trade. He held a General Contractors License, and was a Life-Time Member of RSES (Refrigeration Service Engineer Society).

He taught Basic Principles of Refrigeration in Columbia for several years, and in 1986 he was awarded the Best Small Business of the Year award.

Bill is survived by his son Mark Temple and his wife, Deanna (Columbia, MO); and daughter Carol WOODWARD and her husband, Larry (Belton, TX); daughter Cathy EICHELBERGER and her husband, Donnie (Joplin, MO); daughter Robin TEMPLE (Joplin, MO); eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by five brothers and their families, Rex, Richard, Robert, John, and Paul.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife Barbara TEMPLE, parents William and Mildred TEMPLEY, and sister Shirley TEMPLE, and his dearest life-long friend, college roommate, and best man at his wedding, Roy WEECE.

Having lived at National Health Care in Joplin for the past three years, Bill was crowned King of NHC on Valentine’s Day 2012 after being chosen by all the staff. Bill was a member of College Heights Christian Church in Joplin.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 2, at 10:00 AM at Mason-Woodard Funeral Home, 3701 East 7th, Joplin.
