Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, IowaOBITUARY ~ JIMMY DALE "JIM" SICKELS
Jimmy Dale SICKELS, son of E. G. [Egie G.] and Jennie [Isabelle Jennie] (NYE) SICKELS, was born October 29, 1920 near Kellerton, Iowa, and departed this life July 11, 1987 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of 66 years, nine months and 18 days.
Jim lived his entire life in Ringgold County. He attended country school, then high school in Mount Ayr, Iowa. He served 10 months in the Army, stationed at Blythe, California. He was a member of the United Methodist church in Kellerton, Iowa, and a member of the American Legion in Mount Ayr. He was a farmer until he retired and moved to Mount Ayr in 1977.
On February 14, 1944, he was united in marriage to Helen BRADLEY of Mount Ayr, Iowa. The home was blessed with two children, Stephen and Jane.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Duane.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife Helen; son Stephen of Mount Ayr; daughter Jane MINNICK of Des Moines; grandson Joshua Dale MINNICK; two sisters, Cleta PYLE of Mitchellville and Viona SANDAGE of Des Moines; seven brothers, Rex, Cecil, Lester, Deane, Earl, Roy and Don, all of Mount Ayr, and seven sisters-in-law; other relatives and a circle of friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 14, at 11 a.m. at Wilson-Watson Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Doug HARDING. Casketbearers were LeRoy TRIMBLE, Darrel WILCOXSON, Richard JACKSON, Marvin LESAN, Glen PAYTON and Royce DIVELEY. Organist was Betty TRIMBLE. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr.
