Lyman (sic, should be Laymond) Printis JORDAN, son of Sidney G. and Emily Jane BELL JORDAN, was born at Keithtown, Noble, Ohio, May 29, 1873, and died at his home in Grinnell on February 28, 1957. He was 83 years, 9 months, and 8 days.
In 1877 he moved with his parents to Iowa and lived near Victor, receiving his education in nearby schools.
On Octobr 18, 1898, he united in marriage to Edith Margaret BELL. To this union three daughters were born; Mrs. I. W. (Margaret) MILLARD, deceased Apr 28, 1956; Mrs. H. W. (Velda) TATTER of Watervliet, Mich., and Reba [illegible]. The family ties of this family were always close. Their esteem for one another was always a happy inspiration. During the lattr years of Mr. JORDAN'S life, Reba attended him with thoughtful fondness, making his days comforable and joyous.
Mr. Jordan was a business man who made his way along helpful and trustworthy endeavors in a number of Iowa communities. He served as cashier in a bank for a time and then went into the merchandising business, owning and operating stories in Diagonal, Beton, Mt. Ayr, Prairie City, Greenfield, and Grinnell. He also owned farms at intervals. Later he went into the gas and oil busines, operating the first station on Highway 6 here in Grinnell.
Mrs. JORDAN proceded him in death on Mary 18, 1937.
He leaves to mourn his going his two daughters, Velda and Reba; a sister Miss Ida B. JORDAN of Deep River. Four brothers and one sister proceded him in death.
Also surviving are three grandchildren: Mrs. Sally MILLARD BENTLEY of Danville, IL, and Jordan and Jeanens Ann TATTER of Watervliet, Mich; Two great-granchildren Tim and Margaret BENTLEY, Danville IL; 23 nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
[Interment was made at Hazelwood Cemetery, Grinnell, Iowa.
