Cochran, Cora Ellen MacElroy -
Fifty-nine and one-half years ago, on February 6th, 1860, near Crawfordsville, Washington Co., Iowa, Cora Ellen MacElroy was born; and she fell asleep in the early morning hours of August 5th, 1919.

On November 16th, 1886, she became the bride of Alonzo W. Cochran, and walked by his side as a true help meet for almost forty-three years. Up until 1892 her whole life had been lived in the county of her birth, but removing to the vicinity of Clearfield on the date mentioned, she has since made this community her home.

Beside her husband, she is survived by three sons, William of Des Moines, Earl A. and Homer W. of Clearfield, and two daughters,Mrs. P. D. Wood and Miss Bertha, both of Clearfield; also by seven
grandchildren and one great grandchild also by one brother and three sisters; viz., George MacElroy of Crawfordsville, Iowa; Mrs. Brown of the same place; Mrs. Orbin of Wyman, Iowa; and Mrs. Richey of California. All these, with a host of friends and neighbors, mourn today her separation from us; one worthy of the love showered upon her, whose affable disposition and kindly helpfulness was continually winning her new friends, and putting the old ones under new obligations of affection to her.

When a girl of about thirteen years she made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in the Crawfordsville United Presbyterian church and later transferred her membership to the United Presbyterian church of Clearfield. Thus a good wife, mother, grandmother, and friend has been taken from us by the hand of death. Through physical infirmities she has suffered much for the past five years, but the immediate cause of her death was an attack of neuralgia of the heart.

The funeral services were held at the Clearfield United Presbyterian church the afternoon of August 6th, Pastor T. R. Aikin officiating. Interment followed in Clearfield Cemetery.
