Baumann, L. S. (Sherm) –
Funeral services for L. S. (Sherm) Baumann, were held at two o’clock Tuesday afternoon from the Lenox Methodist church with the Rev. J. H. Machlan in charge of the rites.

L. S. Baumann, son of S. P. and Dorothy Baumann, was born eight miles east of Lenox in Ringgold county, Iowa on December 12, 1865 and died January 1, 1944 from the effects of a stroke of paralysis, his age 78 years and 20 days.

At Bethany, Mo. on September 23, 1883 he was married to Emma Theodotia O’Neal and to them was born a son, Leland, who preceded them in death at the age of 22 years. His wife, commonly known as Daisy, died August 17, 1942.

Mr. and Mrs. Baumann moved to their farm two miles south of Lenox in 1894, living there 46 years. Then they moved to their home in Lenox two years ago last March.

Of his immediate family he leaves a sister, Mrs. Ida Turner of Lenox, Ia. and four brothers, Frank and Wilbur of Tingley, Ia., Fred of Ellston, Ia., and Arthur of near Lenox.

His parents and three sisters, Mae, Melvina and Marietta and two brothers, Morton and Milton, preceded him in death.

For some time his relatives and friends had known that his health was failing, yet even when the end came, it seemed hard to realize that it was so. Although in poor health much of his life, he was ambitious and God blessed their efforts with success. We feel we must give due consideration to the untiring efforts of his faithful and devoted wife, who always labored so earnestly and patiently together with him that made their success possible.

He was a member of the Methodist church; was straight in all his dealings and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.

Funeral services were conducted by the Barber Funeral Service. Interment was in the Lenox cemetery.
