OBITUARY ~ PHYLLIS ANN (ETHINGTON) CRAIG

March 30, 1928 ~ January 26, 2011

Phyllis Ann CRAIG passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at her home at 1100 S. Cherry, Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-two years, nine months, and twenty-seven days.

Phyllis was born March 30, 1928 in Diagonal, Iowa, one of eight children born to James Franklin and Virgie May (KIESER) ETHINGTON. Phyllis married in earlier years and was blessed with two daughters, Cheryl Ann and Lynn Marie.

Phyllis attended school in Lenox and Creston and worked most of her adult life in the Creston area. On January 2, 1978, Phyllis was united in marriage to John "Jack" CRAIG in Loveland, Colorado. They resided in California for a number of years. After her retirement in 1983 and John’s retirement in 1985 from Northrop Corporation they returned to Creston, Iowa where they made their home on a acreage at 1100 S. Cherry Street.

Phyllis loved to sew and quilt and the love for her family was shown many times over in her projects. She loved to garden and work in her yard with husband, John.

Left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory are her husband: John CRAIG, Creston; her daughters, Cheryl Ann EBLEN, Creston, and Lynn Marie SWANSON, Creston; her grandchildren: Lorie (husband Todd) WOODARD, Urbandale, IA; Amy VanSCOY, Creston; Christine SHERROD, Creston; and Mike (wife Alexis) SWANSON, Orient, Iowa; her great-grandchildren, Jed and Maggie WOODARD; Harley, Tommi, Toni, and Tessi VanSCOY; and Khy, Khalil, and Kouri SHERROD; her two sisters, Virginia SHONEHAIR, Altoona, Iowa, and Lena (husband John) MARONEY, Pueblo, Colorado; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers and two sisters; her son-in-law, Jerry EBLEN; and her brother-in-law, Kenneth SHONEHAIR. Phyllis' sister-in-law, Mary Lou ETHINGTON, passed away on Thursday, January 27, at the Greater Regional Hospice Home.
