OBITUARY

Sim Clay RICE, son of John W. and Sara RICE, was born December 8, 1885 on a farm near Mount Ayr. He passed away suddenly Sunday evening, Dec. 18, 1960 [aged 75 years], from a coronary occlusion at the age of 75 years and 10 days. The past three years he had served as mayor of Mount Ayr, tendering his resignation only a few days before his final illness.

NOTE: Simon Clay "Sim" was born in December, 1885, Ringgold County, the son of John W. and Sarah A. (FRAZIER) RICE. He married December 25, 1919, Mount Ayr, to Florence Leota TENNANT. Sim was interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa.
