OBITUARY ~ LEO E. SAMS

Leo E. SAMS, 52 of Cook, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly at the Cook Hospital on Thursday, February 3, 2011.

Leo was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on July 5, 1958. He grew up in Gheen and lived in northern Minnesota most of his life. He liked working in the woods and enjoyed working on old cars. The love and joy of his life was his family, especially his grandchildren. Leo had many cats and his family fondly remembers how he took such good care of them.

Leo was preceded in death by his mother, Violet PUTNEY in 1986.

He is survived by his wife, Jolene GOGGLEYE of Cook, Minnesota; two sons, Ryan GOGGLEYE of Norwalk, Ohio and Charles V. GOGGLEYE of Cook, Minnesota; a daughter, Crystal GOGGLEYE of Norwalk, Ohio; his father, Walter PUTNEY, Sr. of Kellerton, Iowa; five brothers, George (Melissa) PUTNEY of Des Moines, Iowa, Walter PUTNEY, Jr. of Kellerton, Iowa, Steven PUTNEY of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, and Jim (Sherri) SAMS and Clarence (Heather) SAMS, both of Des Moines, Iowa; three sisters, Dixie (Jake) MINZES of Virginia, Christina DUTCHER of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Naomi (Ron) HECK of Fulton, Missouri, and his best friend, Barry DILLON of Geraney, along with nine grandchildren and numerous other relatives.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook, Minnesota with Rev. Reuben ROSNAU as the officiant. Spring interment will be in the Willow Valley Township Cemetery in Saint Louis county, Missouri.
