OBITUARY - BARRY DEAN LANE
1955 ~ 2011

Barry D. LANE 55 of Jamesport [Missouri] passed away Saturday March 19, 2011 at his home. Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday March 22 at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Jamesport. Family visitation will be held Monday evening 6-8pm at the Church. Friends may call after 12 noon Monday at McWilliams Funeral Home in Jamesport. Burial will be at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite Cemetery in Jamesport.

Barry Dean LANE was born on January 24, 1956 in Mount Ayr, Iowa, the son of Harry K. and Julia E. (MAGGARD) LANE. He passed away on March 19, 2011 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 55.

When Dad was 9 years old he moved with his family to Des Moines, Iowa. He gave his heart to the Lord at the age of 17 and was faithful till his death.

On December 27, 1980 Barry was united in marriage to Sherri Rae LONG in Des Moines, Iowa. They enjoyed just over 30 years together and to this union 5 sons and 3 daughters were born.

The couple lived the first 13 years of their married life in the Polk City, Iowa area. Dad had various occupations over the years but he always wanted to farm. In 1993 he purchased a farm in the Jamesport area. While searching for a church home they came in contact with the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, and was baptized into the Church in 1995 along with his wife, mother, and oldest son.

Dad had a very outgoing personality and a good sense of humor. He never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. Dad was a talkative person and we will greatly miss him and his laugh. Dad was a solid Christian and had a real concern for the spiritual well being of his family and the Church.

Dad was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.

Dad will be greatly missed by his wife Sherri and their children Shela, Brandon, Bradley and Bruce, all of the home, Ben LANE and wife Joanna of Gallatin, Bart LANE and wife Bonnie of Jamesport, Sylvia DIRKS and husband Michael of Jamesport, Serena SEIB and husband Jimmy of Gallatin, his 3 brothers, Rick, Randy and Bob LAND, and 1 sister Diann ALT. Dad has 9 grandchildren, Danielle, Zachary, Jacqueline Samantha, Ty, Jordon, Raquel, Alani and Kolby.
