OBITUARY - BARBARA W. HEATON
August 21, 1916 ~ December 16, 2009

Barbara W. HEATON, 93, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Wesley Acres in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at First United Methodist Church in Des Moines. Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday at Clearfield Cemetery near Clearfield, Iowa.

Barbara was born in Anthon and lived in Iowa most of her life. She graduated from Simpson College in 1937 and taught in Kellerton, Iowa for 3 ½ years. Barbara then worked for the Veterans Administration in Washington, DC, New York, NY and Des Moines, Iowa for over 30 years, retiring in 1971.

Memberships include First United Methodist Church of Des Moines, Chapter 148 of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, United Methodist Women, and the Des Moines Women's Club.

Survivors include her extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Adaline HEATON in 2008, with whom she lived all of her life.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Iles Funeral Homes ~ Westover Chapel.
