OBITUARY - JAMES HERBERT "ACE" FARRINGTON
May 25, 1944 ~ February 5, 2011

AGENCY IA — James Herbert "Ace" FARRINGTON Sr., 66, of Agency, died at 8:45 a.m., Feb. 5, 2011, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

He was born May 25, 1944, in Kellerton to James Walter and Genevieve CURRY FARRINGTON. He married Regina E. LEWIS at Calvary Baptist Church in Ottumwa on Aug. 22, 1969.

A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1962, he served in the U.S. Army in the medical corps in Vietnam. He worked at John Morrell and Co. until its closure.

Known as "Ace," he was a lifelong bowler. A Professional Bowler's Association regional pro, he was inducted into the Ottumwa Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1998.

Surviving are his wife, Regina; two sons, James H. FARRINGTON Jr. and Joseph W. FARRINGTON, both of Agency; a daughter, Tammy (Donald) WOOD of Ankeny; a grandson, Alexander M. WOOD and a granddaughter, Sierra R. WOOD, both of Ankeny; nieces, Debbie WILLIAMS of Columbia, Mo., Sherri WATERS BLOOM of Auxvasse, Mo.; cousins Larry EGGAR and Gary MOOMEY; several grand-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-sister, Cheryle JACKSON COLLINS.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Mel KENDALL officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Military services will conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post 3 of the American Legion, who will also serve as pallbearers.

Visitation begins at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home with the family present from 6-8 p.m. tonight.

Memorials may be made to the National Federation of the Blind.
