January 8, 1928 - January 21, 2010
Joe F. MOTSINGER, 82, passed away January 21, 2010 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Funeral services were held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home in Des Moines, Iowa on January 25, 2010. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Joe was born January 8, 1928 in Redding, Iowa to Harry "Doog" MOTSINGER and Marian (FISHER) MOTSINGER. He lived in Ringgold county all of his school years. He graduated from Diagonal high school in 1947. He was a member of the 1946 and 1947 basketball teams that went to the state tournament.
He and his family moved to Des Moines in 1952. He lived in Des Moines the rest of his life. He retired from the City of Des Moines after many years of service.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry MOTSINGER, and daughter, Joann SEVERINO.
Joe is survived by his wife, Dorothy; seven children; three step-children; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Janice OVERHOLSER, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joe F. MOTSINGER, 82, passed away January 21, 2010 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2010 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 to 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Joe was born January 8, 1928 in Redding, IA to Harry and Marion MOTSINGER. He retired from the City of Des Moines after many years of service. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid Hawkeye, Cubs and Bears fan. Above all, Joe loved his family and enjoyed traveling and spending time with them.
Joe is preceeded in death by his parents, brother, Larry MOTSINGER; and daughter JoAnn SEVERINO.
Joe is survived by his wife, Dorothy; ten children; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, sister, Denise OVERHOLSER; nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
