OBITUARY - ELIZABETH MURDOK QUINN JOHNSTON

Elizabeth MURDOK (MURDOCK or MURDOCH?) was born in Glasgow, Scotland, June 14, 1832, and died at the home of J. W. SMITH in Ellston, June 28, 1908. At the age of fourteen she came to New Orleans with her parents. She was married to Thomas QUINN August _1, 1848. To this union two children were born. They moved to Peoria county, Ill. in 1851, and she was left a widow in 1852. She was married again in 1854 to Wm. JOHNSTON, at Prince Mill, Ill., who died a few years ago [March 3, 1895]. To this union was born eight children, six of whom are living. Five of them were at her bedside at the time of her death. They moved to Ringgold county in 1880 and in the spring of 1891 they moved to Ellston. She united with the U.P. [United Presbyterian] church in childhood and remained a member until the organization of the M. E. church in Ellston when she became a member of it. She was a very devoted and faithful christian. She leaves to mourn her death three sons and three daughters. They are T.T. JOHNSTON, of Grand River, William, of Kansas, Robert and Mrs. Dick [Fannie Alberta] HOLLAND of Kellerton, Mrs. G. M. [Lizzie C.] JACKSON and Mrs. Bell GERMAN of Ellston. The funeral was held Tuesday from the Methodist church conducted by Rev. L. F. BROWN. Interment was by the side of her last husband in Oliver cemetery.
