Mildred Anne TURNBULL, 99, of Leavenworth, Wash., formerly of Diagonal, died May 10, 2005, at Cashmere Convalescent Center in Washington.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at the United Church in Diagonal. The Rev. John BERAN will officiate the service. Burial will be in Diagonal Cemetery. There is open visitation after 10 a.m. Saturday with the family receiving friends 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home in Diagonal. Memorials may be directed to Diagonal Printing Museum.
Mrs. TURNBULL, daughter of Alma (SOBOTKA) and Lester WILEY, was born November 12, 1905 in Diagonal. She graduated from Diagonal High School in 1923 and attended Parsons College in Fairfield. On March 10, 1928, she married Harold Watson TURNBULL. She taught school in Arispe and Diagonal, then published the Diagonal Reporter with her husband where she was known for her column "Bird Notes."
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Jane TURNBULL WRAY of Leavenworth, Wash.; two grandchildren, Matthew (wife Christie) TURNBULL of Leavenworth, Wash., and Jennifer McDONALD of Cave Junction, Ore.; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Miles; great-grandson Miles Montgomery TURNBULL, parents, sister Florence WILEY JESSUP and two brothers, Donald and Ellis WILEY.
