OBITUARY - ALICE M. DUKES

December 09, 1907 - September 11, 2002

Alice M. DUKES, 94, of Mt. Gilead, Ohio died Wednesday, September 11, 2002 in the Morrow County Hospital ECF.

She was born in Beaconsfield, Iowa on December 9, 1907, the daughter of the late William and Cora (HITCHCOCK) DUKES. A Mt. Gilead High School class of 1926 graduate, she received her B.S. in Education from Colorado College of Education, and her R.N. degree from Grant Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for the University of Tennessee From 1934-40, as Director of Nursing for Good Samaritan Hospital in Green Bay, WI from 1940-50, and as Instructor of Nursing for Mt. Siani Hospital in Cleveland from 1950-72. Following her retirement she returned to Mt. Gilead.

Alice was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Morrow County Chapter of the American Red Cross Board of Directors and the Morrow County Adult & Children's Services Board.

She is survived by a sister Ruth LEVERING of Mt. Gilead, OH; a nephew David (Jackie) DAVIS of Cardington, OH; a great nephew Dale DAVIS of Cardington, OH and a great niece Diana ROBINSON of Cardington, OH.

Her sisters Florence M. DAVIS and Helen DUKES preceded her in death.

Rev. Bruce HARTLEY will conduct graveside services in Bryn Zion Cemetery [Mount Gilead, Ohio] Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
