OBITUARY - MRS. MARGARET E. WITHERS.

Miss Margaret E. PEPPARD, who later became Mrs. Margaret E. WITHERS, was born at Bluffton, Indiana, June 17, 1851. Her home was at this place until she went to Illinois in 1869. In 1870 she was married to Mr. W. F. WITHERS at Sadorus, Illinois, where they made their home for four years. In 1874 they moved back to her childhood home at Bluffton, Indiana, where they resided for six years. In 1880 they came to Ringgold county, Iowa, where she made her home until May, 1923, when she went to Wibaux, Montana, for her health. At this place she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Leona POLEN. After the death of her husband in 1911, Mrs. WITHERS moved to Mount Ayr and this was her home until she went to Montana.

Mrs. WITHERS became a Christian at eighteen years of age and was received into the fellowship of the Presbyterian church. She continued to be a faithful adherent to this faith until she removed to Iowa, when she united with the Adventist church. Upon removing to Mount Ayr after the death of her husband she chose the Baptist church as her church home and was a member of that body until the day of her death. In her church duties and obligations she was true and faithful.

In her death Mrs. WITHERS has gone to join the other members of her immediate family of which she is the last. To her were born eight children, all of whom survive her. Their names and places of residence are as follows: Marion A. WITHERS, Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. J. H. FUNKHOUSER, Mount Ayr, Iowa; Mrs. L. A. FUNKHOUSER, Mount Ayr, Iowa; Mrs. Leona POLEN, Wibaux, Mont.; Mrs. Luly HARDEN, Torrington, Wyo.; Mrs. Edna THOMPSON, Mount Ayr, Iowa; S. A. WITHERS, Des Moines, Iowa; and Floyd F. WITHERS, Ottumwa, Iowa. In addition to her children Mrs. Withers leaves behind seventeen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

THE FAMILY.

NOTE: William F. WITHERS, husband of Margaret E. (PEPPARD), was born in 1848. He served during the Civil War as a Private with Company A of the 154th Illinois Infantry. William died on March 2, 1911 with interment beside his wife at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa.
