NOTICE of DEATH.

Wallace Wakefield WILLEY, veteran of the Civil War, died on October 7, 1907. The son of Merrells and Charlotte M. (BEACH) WILLEY, he was born in August 16, 1828. He served during the Civil War with Company C of the 24th Iowa Volunteer Infantry. Interment was at Centenary Cemetery near Knowlton, Ringgold County, Iowa.

NOTE: Wallace was a store keeper and according to the 1879 Cedar County, Iowa Census, he was single and residing with his parents. He married Hannah (?) from Illinois who was ten years his junior and they had a son Samuel WILLEY born circa 1871.

Merrells WILLEY was born in Hartford, Connecticut on August 9, 1796, the son of Clements Bates and Candace (MERRELLS) WILLEY, and married Charlotte M. BEACH on April 22, 1818 in Ashtabula County, Ohio. They were the parents of eleven children: George Reed (1819-1878), of Cedar County, Iowa; Dr. Alanson Green WILLEY, Derwin Erastus WILLEY, Fidella Frances WILLEY, William Wright WILLEY (1832-1894), Ward W. WILLEY, Mary C., Arthur D., Omri, and Clement M. WILLEY (1846-1929, of Cedar County, Iowa and Civil War Veteran of Company F of the 46th Iowa Volunteer Infantry. Merrells died in Cedar County, Iowa on April 9, 1874. Charlotte M. (BEACH) WILLEY, the daughter of Luman and Mydia Mason (WRIGHT) BEACH, was born May 4, 1803, Genesee County, New York, and died June 8, 1883, Cedar County, Iowa. Merrells and Charlotte were interred at Inland Cemetery near Bennett, Cedar County, Iowa.
