OBITUARY - MARY MARTHA GOWEY WAGGONER.

Mary Martha GOWEY was born November 6, 1849, in Logan county, Ohio, and passed from this life Thursday evening, Feburary 6, 1928, at 6:30 p.m. at the home of her son, Rolla WAGGONER, at the age of 78 years, three months and 10 days. At an early age she moved with her parents to Iowa county, Iowa, where she lived for several years until the death of her mother, after which she made her home with her uncle, Rollin GOWEY, until the time of her marriage. On January 14, 1871, she was united in the bonds of matrimony to John E. WAGGONER, of Washington county, Iowa and to this union eight children were born, Carrie May, Arthur John, Rolla Newton, Alice Myrtle, Olive L., Edna Grace, Homer Jacob and Mary Rosella; Arthur John, Ollie L. and Homer Jacob having preceded their mother to the yonder world. Mrs. WAGGONER also took when a baby of two years Grover HANSEN and proved a real mother to him until he became of age. She also helped considerable in the raising of three children for an uncle. Mrs. WAGGONER and her husband moved to Ringgold county, Iowa, 44 years ago and have made this county their home ever since. A little over twenty years ago on February 1, 1908, Mrs. WAGGONER's husband was called to the glory world and since his departure she has made her home with her son and daughter, Rolla and Mary WAGGONER, near Ellston.

Mrs. WAGGONER became a christian at an early age and united with the Christian church and has been a faithful member of the Ellston Christian church. She was always an earnest and loyal servant of her Master, her life having been a testimony in her remembrance.

Mrs. WAGGONER's health has been failing rapidly since last October, although she had only been bedfast the past two weeks.

She leaves to mourn her departure one brother, Judd GOWEY, of Clarinda, Iowa; four daughters, Mrs. Carrie WEST, of Villisca, Iowa; Mrs. J. D. LYLES, of Metz, Mo.; Mrs. J. M. BOOTH, Bellpre, Kansas, and Miss Mary WAGGONER of near Ellston; one son, Rolla Newton WAGGONER, of Ellston, and the young man whom she raised, Grover HANSEN, of Edholm, Neb.; also twenty-five grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren besides a host of relatives and friends.

Thus another has answered the eternal summons of the Master and her life though ended here has just begun its immortal reign in the land of eternal life.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, February 19, 1928, at ten o'clock at the home, conducted by Rev. Harold H. HUNT of the Methodist church of Ellston and interment was made by the side of her husband at Tingley, Iowa.

"Weep not that her toils are over,
Weep not that her race is run,
God grant that we may rest as calmly,
When our work, like hers, is done.
Till then we yield with gladness,
Our loved one to him to keep,
And rejoice in the sweet assurance,
He giveth his loved ones sleep."
