The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1924

OBITUARY.

Mary Emaline SEEVERS was born in Montgomery county, Indiana, May 20, 1856, and passed away at her home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, March 12, 1924, aged 67 years, 7 months and 22 days. On September 22, 1872, she was united in marriage with Hosea N. RUSK and the home was established in Indiana. Nine children were born to this union, five of whom with the husband and father preceded her in death.

Mrs. Rusk came with her children to Mount Ayr in 1901 and with a courage born of love and devotion assumed the responsibilities of the home, measuring up to her duties and responsibilities in a manner which commanded the admiration of all who knew her. She was a kind mother, a home-maker, devoting her life to the rearing of her family, and lived to see her children reach maturity and assume their full share of responsibility in the community. She made the good confession on January 17, 1907, was baptised and became a member of the Church of Christ in Mount Ayr. While prevented by physical infirmities in recent years from attending the services of the church, she was ever a devoted member, exhibiting a faith which reflected a pure heart and a life devoted to the service of the Master.

The surviving children are W. H. RUSK of Whittier, Calif., Mrs. Maude E. WILLEY and Leonard B. and Earl H. RUSK of Mount Ayr. She also leaves nineteen grandchildren, one brother, J. H. SEEVERS of Mount Ayr, one sister, Mrs. Anna FARIS of Mount Ayr, and one half-brother, A. H. HARRIS of Des Moines. Two brothers preceded her in death.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock p.m. from the Church of Christ, conducted by Rev. S. P. WILLIAMSON, of Guthrie Center, who formerly served the church as pastor, and the body was laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery.

CARD OF THANKS.

We wish to express to the neighbors and friends our heart-felt thanks for their many acts of kindness and words of sympathy during the illness and on the occasion of the death of our mother, Mrs. Mary E. RUSK. Her Children
