OBITUARY - WINNIFRED "Winnie" (SCOTT) ROACH

Winnifred ROACH was born August 15, 1930 at Mapleton, Iowa to Lewis & Cora (BIRTWELL) SCOTT.

Winnie moved to Mount Ayr as a child where she lived her entire life.

On June 21, 1946, she was married to Albert Merle ROACH in Troy, KS. To this union was born three children. The house on East Adams has been her home since 1947.

Albert passed away in 1965 and Winnie was left with the responsibility of raising her children.

Winnie worked outside the home as a domestic engineer; someone that would clean and run errands and do those things for other people. In addition to helping other people, Winnie enjoyed helping area churches and organizations. She was a member of the legion auxiliary and Ember’s. Winnie was also a cook at the Shamrock Café and Small’s Corral. Winnie enjoyed reading, going to household auctions and yard sales and she loved to bowl.

Winnie died unexpectantly on March 19, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and a son, Billy Ray ROACH in 1975.

She is survived by her children Cheryl ROACH and Larry ROACH of Des Moines; grandson Billy Jo BAKER & his family of Des Moines; a brother Bill SCOTT & friend Hazel LEE of Shannon City; other relatives and friends.

Services were held Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. from Wilson-Watson & Armstrong, Mount Ayr, Iowa.
