OBITUARY - HOWARD EVERETT DAILEY

Howard Everett DAILEY, second son of Gertrude and Roy DAILEY, was born March 9, 1914, and passed away at the home near Mount Ayr, Iowa, March 18, 1828, at 8 a.m., aged 14 years and nine days, it seeming to be God's will to remove from among us one whose life was a blessing and inspiration and a gleam of sunshine to his dear ones. He is gone, but the memory of his acts and his bright and cheery smile how we miss them; but what is our loss is Heaven's gain. He was in attendance at Sunday school when his health permitted. We will trill [?] with the marvelous patience our dear one had to wait until that glorious morn when he that is faithful is promised a crown of righteousness. We will meet him in that land where sickness, nor sorrow, nor death ever come.

He leaves to mourn his departure father, mother, five brothers and three sisters; two grandmothers and other loving relatives and friends. All had been done for him that sympathetic hearts and heands could do, but to no avail.

We listen, wait and listen,
For the voice that never calls;
For the step along the hallway,
But that footstep never falls.
But this comfort we have always,
Tho' we may be late,
We know he'll not forget us,
But be watching at the gate.
We are profoundly grateful to the friends and neighbors for the many acts of kindness and sympathy during the illness and on the occasion of the death and funeral of our son and brother. -- Mr. and Mrs. Roy DAILEY and family.

Funeral services were conducted at Wishard chapel Tuesday, March 20, at 10 a.m. by Rev. H. H. HUNT and Rev. T. S. RHOADES and interment was in the Marshalltown cemetery near Benton.

NOTE: Howard was interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa, not Marshalltown Cemetery. His parents D. Roy DAILEY (1882-1972) and Gertrude E. (?) DAILEY (1890-1978) were interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, too.
