DEATH of MRS. SARAH M. CHANCE

Mrs. Sarah M. (LEWIS) CHANCE, one of Ringgold county's highly respected pioneer women, died about five o'clock yesterday morning [November 11, 1931] at her home in northwest Mount Ayr. At the time of her death she was past 82 years of age. [Sarah was born on August 28, 1849.] Mrs. CHANCE had been in failing health for some time, but maintained her mental facilities until her death.

Mrs. CHANCE, formerly Miss Sarah M. LEWIS, was united in marriage to Dorington CHANCE in March, 1868 and they settled on a farm in Washington township. To this union six children, four daughters and two sons, were born.

She is survived by three daughters and one son. Her husband, one daughter and one son preceded her in death.

Funeral arrangements had not been announced at the time the Record-News went to press.

NOTE: Sarah M. (LEWIS) CHANCE was interred at Oak Ridge Cemetery near Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa. Dorington CHANCE, husband of Sarah M. (LEWIS) was born in October, 1835 and died March 12, 1917. He was interred at Oak Ridge Cemetery near Mount Ayr.
