OBITUARY - A. T. BUTLER

Alpha Truman BUTLER, son of Amos and Clarisa M. BUTLER, November 21, 1927, aged 70 years, seven months and 22 days.

When about six weeks old he moved to Lucas county, Iowa, with his parents where they lived about three years. In March, 1860, they moved to Middle Fork township, Ringgold county, where they resided eleven years and in March, 1871, moved to Cumberland county, Tennessee. In July, 1877, he left home and lived in Campaign (sic) county, Ohio six years. In February, 1883, he came back to Ringgold county. In August, 1883, he moved to Coffeyville, Kan., and in 1885, again returned to Ringgold county, Iowa.

On July 6, 1886, he was married to Mary J. V. ROGERS near Denver, Mo., and to this union were born five children - Mrs. Clara ADAIR, of Omaha, Neb.; William Harrison and Eva Belle, who died in infancy; Mrs. Ferne SALTZMAN, of Redding, and Glen Barton, of Omaha, Neb. Surviving him are four brothers and two sisters, three grandchildren, Twila and Velva ADAIR and H. A. Jr., SALTZMAN and a number of nieces and nephews besides a host of friends.

Mr. BUTLER has been a patient sufferer for the last three and one-half years. Everything that medical skill could do was done to restore or alleviate the suffering, but failing to rally to any efforts he passed away peacefully at eleven o'clock on Monday morning, November 21.

The funeral was held from Redding M.E. church Wednesday at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. J. W. HOLLIDAY, assisted by Rev. F. W. AMACK.

The pall bearers were E. W. McPHEETERS, G. E. EATON, J. H. WAUGH, C. M. WAUGH, E. E. EDWARDS and G. W. ADAIR. The singers were Mr. and Mrs. D. B. NORRIS, Miss Alta ADAIR and John HOOVER with Miss Florence HOFFMAN, pianist.

Interment was in the Redding cemetery.

We take this way of expressing our heart-felt thanks to everyone who assisted us in the burial of our husband and father, including the singers and pall bearers. Also the beautiful floral offerings sent as a token of sympathy. Those expressions will never be forgotten.
