Overholtzer Reunion

The 93rd annual Overholtzer Reunion was held on August 7, 2016 at the Tingley Community Building in Tingley, IA. Hosts for this years reunion were John F. and Mary C. Overholtzer.
John F. Overholtzer called the reunion to order at 12:30 p.m. with Mary K. Overholtzer returning the blessing. The food tables were filled, as ususal, with the buffet that makes the Overholtzer Reunion famous.

Following the great meal and conversation, John F. Overholtzer called the business metting to order. First order of business was to get the volunteer to host the 2017 reunion. Joyce Scott's family from Bolivar, Missouri graciously volunteered to be next year's host family.

John A. Overholtzer gave the Secretary/Treasurer's report and the hat was passed to get donations to pay for reunion expenses.

Nominations were taken for Secretary/Treasurer. John A. Overholtzer was once again voted into that position.

David Overholtzer, from [Page 7] Council Bluffs, read the Overholtzer Reunion Proclamation from Congressman David Young. This proclamation was read at last year's reunion, but David reported that this proclamation has now been entered into the United States House of Representatives Congressional Record.

David Overholtzer, during an internet search, had found a life history written by Rose Stoops. Part of Rose's life history was about her childhood in rural Tingley, IA. She wrote that her family were neighbors to John Eiker Overholtzer's family. She spoke about Opal, Floyd, Ray, and the death of Myrtle. It was interesting to those of us descended from John E. Overholtzer.

Beverly Poore reported she had gone to Camp Dodge and made copies of draft cards of all the Overholtzer relatives she could find.

New births entered into the record are the twin granddaughters of Tim Scott. They are Sophia Jeanine Scott and Adeline Diane Scott born July 29, 2016. Their mother is Stephanie Diane Scott, all of Bolivar, MO.

Marriages reported were Jana Lyn Johnson to Jeremy L. Browns on June 26, 2015; Madeleine S. Overholtzer to Austin G. Collins on July 1, 2016.

Overholtzer, Jacob Van Buskirk, Brad, Becky, Braden, and Brandy Johnson, Rick, Annie, Emrey, Teag, and Anistyn Schweitzberger, McAlister Overholtzer, David and Suzanne Overholtzer, Joyce Scott, Cleone Hosfield, Rosemary Overholtzer, Howard Tull, John F. and Mary C.
