An old-fashioned fun day was held in Ellston at the museum and park on Sunday, Sept. 21.
Providing music for the afternoon included the "Mighty Echoes" band from the Tingley meal site, Christina OVERHOLTZER with her violin, Gene and Linda BULLOCK and the Dan and Dodie FERNANDEZ family.
Ted DERSCHEID headed up the apple pressing station and Linda SWANSON served the stew cooked over an open fire. Ron ABBOTT cooked pork loins in his homemade cooker. Al CLOUGH offered book signings for his "Old Man on the Dock," Bill STEPHENS displayed the wooden farm minatures he has crafted and Nan DERSCHEID helped the children make bird feeders to take home.
Jeff INLOES, helped by his dad, Dave, brought his Belgian horses and a hay rack and offered rides to "kids" of all ages. Antique tractor club members brought a number of restored tractors for display and even took their machines for a ride out to Sun Valley Lake and back.
John CAMPBELL and Bob SWANSON demonstrated their collection of single cylinder engines.
Guests admired the new artwork and revamped small tools display upstairs in the machinery building and toured the Cornwall home with its newly wallpapered kitchen. Some recent donations included a 101-year old wedding dress and a marriage certificate dated February 1900.
People who didn't get to enjoy the pioneer experience last Sunday, can put the Ellston Pioneer Center on their list of interesting places to visit next summer.
