To Observe Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary

An event which happens very seldom in the lives of married people was celebrated in Tingley Sunday, June 27th, when Mr. and Mrs. Joshua MOREN observed the 60th anniversary of their wedding. One June 27th, 1849, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse PUGH, at Cambridge, Preble county, Ohio, Joshua Moran and Miss Caroline PUGH were married by the Rev. Jesse SIMMERSON. Mr. and Mrs. MOREN lived in Ohio for 32 years, moving from there to Decatur county, and from whence to Tingley 14 years ago.

Mr. MORAN answered the call of his country and enlisted in the 96d Ohio Infantry, serving with distinction and being honorably discharged. The government recognized his services by granting him a pension of $20 per month, but on account of his blindness he certainly ought to receive more.

Mr. MOREN followed farming until old age prevented his doing any manual labor and now at the age of 86, and his companion aged 79, they are awaiting life's sunset in the consciousness of a life well spent.

Seven children came to gladden the home: a son died in infancy, and a grown son, Lenley MOREN, in Centralia, Kan., a few years ago. The living children are Ruttledge P. MOREN, Decatur, Ill.; Mrs. Caroline WOOTON, Chelan, Wash.; Joseph MOREN, Grand River, Iowa; Mrs. Cora GRANGER, Netawauka, Kan.; and Mrs. Rossie JOHNSON, Mt. Ayr, Iowa.

Owing to illness and distance, none of the children were permitted to be present.

There are 27 grandchildren and 9 great-granchildren.

A sumptous dinner was served.

Those present: Mrs. Margaret MOREN, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Thomas HUMPHREYS, a niece, and her daughter Lulu, all of Johnson, Neb.; Mrs. W. P. SCHREIDER, a niece of Logan, Kan.; Misses Laura MOREN of Grand River, Lenore, Lula and Marle PECKHAM, Bess MORAN, granddaughters; Mrs. Kate PECKHAM; F. A. JOHNSON.
