The Mount Ayr high school class of 1948 met Friday, May 27, 2011, at Ramsey Farms Heritage House for the 63rd anniversary of their graduation. The noon meal was prepared and served by Ruth BLANTON with Lola (TRIGGS) LINK giving the blessing. Jim EASON welcomed class members and guests and extended thank yous to secretary Lola (TRIGGS) LINK and the planning committee, Edna (WALTER) JONES, Barbara (BUCK) BENTLEY, Sam SICKELS, Doris (PRATT) KLEJCK and Jim EASON.
Updates were given concerning absent members and letters were shared from Mary Ann (MOORE) JACKSON of Montgomery, AL, Jean (THOMPSON) GROUT of Riverside, CA and Jessie (SAVILLE) MOHR of Gowrie.
The names of 19 deceased classmates were noted and remembered (the last being that of Mary Jo (CORNELISON) TRIMBLE in June of 1010).
The group spent the remainder of their time together reminiscing of "ole school days and events' and discussing plans for the 2012 get-together to be held Memorial weekend at the same location, same committee in charge.
Those attending the event were Jim and Nina EASON, Sam and Evelyn SICKELS, Gene and Barbara SICKELS, Doris (PRATT) and Norm KLEJCH and Edna (WALTER) JONES, all of Mount Ayr; Junior BROWN of Des Moines; Harold and Shirley SANDAGE of Ottumwa; Bob and Beth TOLAND of Washington; Lola (TRIGGS) LINK of Rapid City, SD, Freeda (PAYTON) FAUST of Chariton; Joan (CHRISTENSEN) CRAIG and Jean (SLAVIK) SCHLAPIA of Ames; Harold RICE of Commerce City, CO, and Barbara (BUCK) BENTLEY of Clearfield.
