Grand Valley Class of 1967

History of the Class of 1967
The Senior Class of 1967 came together in our 7th grade year, when we all made many new friends with whom we should share the next five years and many happy memories.

Our class' membership has varied greatly since we began with twenty-seven. During the 8th grade year we lost Dian BROOKS and Mary PHELPS, leaving us with twenty-five members. During our 9th grade year, Mary and Dian moved back, and we lost Kathy BURRIGHT. Our number slipped down to twenty-four in the 10th grade when we lost Rea ANDREW and Sharon HUTCHINSON. In the 11th grade we slipped to twenty, losing Keith TONEY, Dian BROOKS, Danny YOUNG, Elliot SCOTT, and Pat BOWEN. We added John HERSEY. Then we began our Senior year with eighteen members, as John HERSEY had moved. Ethel SISSEL and Joyce RAINEY were married, and Jim TAYLOR joined our class. Jeff JOHNSON became a page in the Iowa State Senate during the year, so much of the time we had only seventeen.

Though our class was a small one, we still participated in many activities and can look back on four great high school years.

Our Freshman year was highlighted by our adjustment to high school and its totally new atmosphere, and to the Freshman Initiation Party given by the Senior Class. Then in our sophomore year, we settled down to a normal, full year of school work and fun. Our Junior year we financed our Junior-Senior banquet with profits from concession sales at ball games. It was held in May, and the theme was "April in Paris." Finally, in our 12th year, we sold magazines and annual advertisements and put the annual together. The year was 'rounded off' with the Junior-Senior banquet, our class trip to the Ozarks, and graduation.

We were limited only in number. It was a great class, and we are proud to tell anyone so. We hope that our efforts to help make our school a better one were of some value, and that we may guide our future in the same spirit.
