March 17, 2010RICKER INDUCTED INTO HALL OF FAME
Bob RICKER of Mount Ayr was inducted into the Iowa High School Atheltic Association’s basketball hall of fame during ceremonies at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines Saturday. RICKER played for Diagonal high school in a career that ended in 1951.
RICKER joins Terry ANDERSON, Dick IVES and Corwin BONEBRAKE as inductees in the state hall of fame from Diagonal.
RICKER was joined on the floor by his wife Lucy for the induction. Ricker scored 1,525 points in his career for the Maroons. He scored 63 points in one game and was the state’s leading scorer with 701 points in 1951.
Attending the ceremony were the RICKER’s three sons -- Dr. Bruce RICKER and Brent RICKER from Mount Ayr -- and Bob RICKER Jr. From Nashville, TN.
RICKER had been honored earlier at a ceremony in Diagonal January 29.
