Morgan receives assessor award

Neil E. Morgan, Ringgold County Assessor was nominated and selected to receive the "Outstanding Member" Award at athe Iowa State Association of Assessor's Annual Conference and School of Instruction held in Des Moines September 28 - October 1.

The recipient of this award is selected based on leadership qualities, professionalism and contributions to the Association.

Morgan started his assessment career in 2000, when he was appointed Ringgold County Assessor. He is a member of the Iowa State Association of Assessors (ISAA), and in 2008 he earned his Iowa Certified Assessor designation from the Institute of Iowa Certified Assessors.

Morgan has served the ISAA in several capacities over the years, most notably as the Chair of the Agland Committee and has become one of the foremost experts in the state regarding agricultural land values and assessments. Every two years, Morgan uses his titme and knowledge to input the necessary data into the ag land productivity formula for all counties to aid his fellow ISAA members in the calculation of their agricultural land assessments.

Morgan resides in Mount Ayr.

Special surprise guests attending the award presentation in Des Moines on September 30 included his mother Darlene Morgan, daughter Julie Neas, his daughter Katie Routh and son-in-law Matt Routh, his grand children Ella Waske, Brody Neas, Claire Roth and his girlfriend Kathy Scott.

Morgan's deputy assessors Tara Lynch and Melinda England were also there.
