Lewis Publishing Company, 1887. pp. 248."James C. ANDERSON, one of the active and enterprising agriculturists of Jefferson Township, Ringgold County, residing on section 15, was born in York County, Pennsylvania, December 2, 1848, a son of Edward Anderson, who was a native of the same State.
He left Pennsylvania with his parents about the year 1853, they locating in Union County, Ohio, and there our subject grew to manhood on a farm, and received his education in the common schools.
He was married in Ohio, October 22, 1874, to Miss Maria Martin, a daughter of James Martin, of Union County, that State. To Mr. and Mrs. Anderson have been born three children, whose names are as follows - Edward H., Clayton and James M. Mr. Anderson came to Ringgold County, Iowa, in the fall of 1874, and has since been a resident of Jefferson Township.
He has always followed agricultural pursuits, and is now devoting his attention to general farming and stock-raising. His farm contains 140 acres of choice land under a high state of cultivation.
He has held the office of constable for four years with credit to himself and to the satisfaction of his constituents. He is a member of the United Presbyterian church."
