Mrs. Andrew D. Appleby; for 17 years a most highly esteemed resident of Grinnell, died suddenly at her home at 1425 Third Avenue at 7:00 o'clock last evening, May 27, at the age of 57 years. Death was caused by hemmorage of the brain.
Mrs. Appleby had apparently been in the best of health, and on Sunday morning went to Malcom to plant flowers on the graves of relatives. She was taken by Ed Speth, who was accompanied by his mother, Mrs. Joe Speth, sister Irma, and Mrs. Appleby.
Mrs. Appleby was kneeling over the grave of her mother in the act of setting out a plant when she fell over unconscious. Dr. Wilcox of Malcom was summoned and Mrs. Appleby was taken to the home of her brother, Fred Baustian. Later in the day Dr. Talbott was called from Grinnell and Mrs. Appleby was taken to her home there.
She gained conscousness for short periods at a time until she was summoned to her Eternal home by her Creator. Her death came as a great shcok to many friends and relatives. Mrs. Appleby had been enjoying the best of health.
Funeral services will be held from her late home, 1425 Third avenue at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, May 29.
