Newspaper Clipping, Obituary, in Anna & Charles McCormick Family Bible:

Frederick Ludeman: Was born in Hanover, Germany, December 27, 1836. He was married to Elizabeth Myer in 1864 and emigrated to America in 1865. They first settled in Wisconsin, where they lived until 1871 when they came to Poweshiek County, Iowa, making this their permanent home. Here they reared their three children--Anna, Fred and Charley--to honorable womanhood and manhood. But the dark-winged messenger came on the 5th day of October 1900, and Frederick Ludeman bade goodby to earth and his sufferings and went into the presence of his God.

Funeral services Sunday afternoon from the home, conducted by Rev. P. J. Henness, and interment in our Odd Fellows' Cemetery, in which order he was a member. At the grave the Odd Fellows officiated with their beautiful and impressive ceremonies. A very large concourse of friends were present to pay their last tribute of respect to their departed friend.

Mr. Ludeman was a most excellent man in every way. He was a good neighbor. His watchfulness in looking after the sick and needy was a subject of universal comment among those who knew him. He was the friend to everybody and no one who was deserving was ever turned from his door. He was upright and honorable in his business affairs and people had the utmost confidence in his integrity. The death of such a man is a great loss to any community. He left to those behind the rich inheritance of an untarnished name.
