Alexander Razey was born in Essex Co., New York, December 5, 1838. His parents were Asahel and Polly Jenney Razey. After finishing his education he farmed until 1855 at which time he moved to Wisconsin and engaged in farming and in the pineries. While in Wisconsin he met and married Miss Hannah Lewis on Oct. 15, 1863. Hannah was twenty years old, and also a native of New York. Her parents were Samuel and Fannie Compton Lewis. They resided in Wisconsin until 1868, at which time, they moved to Poweshiek Co., Iowa and united with the Fairview Christian Church. While settled in Poweshiek County he owned one hundred and forty-nine acres of farm and timber land in section 14 in Madison Township (just north of where Holiday Lake is today). In 1901 the family moved on again to Yakima Valley in Washington State near a small town called Naches. Here he and his family planted fruit trees in the valley and farmed until his death on August 29, 1907. Hannah and Alexander had ten children, Edith, Ella May, Aida A., Asahel Jesse, Francis B., Fannie Jane, Samuel, Marshal, Grace and Lewis. Marshall and Grace were twins. Two of his children proceded him in death, Aida at three years and Grace at three days. This information was compiled from the Brooklyn Chronicle, Sept 26, 1907; the Poweshiek County History, 1880; and genealogical information from Carol Glass Robey.
