ANOTHER PIONEER CALLED TO REST

HAD LIVED IN THIS COMMUNITY FOR FIFTY YEARS.

MRS. LEVISA GLASS HARNER DIED AT HER HOME IN MONTEZUMA FRIDAY EVENING. FUNERAL SUNDAY.

Mrs. Levisa Glass Harner died at her home in Montezuma Friday evening. She had not been in good health for some time. Deceased lived in this community for many years and had a large circle of acquaintances all of whom regret to learn of her demise.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the late home on South Third Street, conducted by Rev. L. H. Lanning. Interment was made in the beautiful Montezuma cemetery.

Levisa Hartman was born at Rose Hill in Mahaska county, July 19th, 1853 and died at her home on South Third Street in Montezuma, Iowa, June 9, 1922.

On March 11, 1869 she was united in marriage with Mr. James Glass. Soon after their marriage they came to a farm south of Montezuma, where they lived for a few years, after which they moved to Montezuma.

On August 25, 1887, Mr. Glass met with an accident and was fatally injured, resulting in his death the same day. On July 5, 1898, she was again married to Mr. George Harner who died July 25, 1901. Mrs. Harner was the mother of ten children, seven of whom live and mourn her passing. The children are: Byron Glass, of Victor, Iowa; Mrs Sarah Swafford of Belle Plaine, Ia; Adeline Glass of Montezuma, Iowa; Mrs. Elizabeth Chandler of Gibson, Ia; Margaret Lofgreen of Montezuma, Ia; Marie Butts of Marshalltown, Ia; and Roy Glass of Princeton, Mo. All of the children were present at the funeral. There are five grandchildren.

Of her father's family two sisters survive: Mrs. Mary Smith of Chelsea, Iowa and Mrs. Susan Kessler of Spikard, Mo.

Mrs. Harner joined with the Methodist church in August 1894 under the pastorate of Rev. J. W. Lambert. She was also a charter member of the G. A. R. Circle of Wisner Post. Mrs. Harner has been failing in health for several months and for the past few weeks failed rapidly. She was in the 69th year of her life. She has entered into her rest.
