TRU ANN CHASE
January 26, 1950 - July 13, 2023

Tru Ann Chase, age 73, of Copperas Cove, Texas, died Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Cove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a battle with Alzheimer's disease. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Grinnell, Iowa.

Tru Ann was born the daughter of Earl Benjamin Story, Jr. and Eva May Schafer on January 26, 1950, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was raised in Malcom and attended Malcom and B.G.M. Schools. She graduated from B.G.M. with the class of 1968.

Tru Ann was united in marriage to Wayne Allen Chase on October 23, 1970, at the United Methodist Church in Malcom, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with a son, Derek Wayne Chase, and she was also blessed with a stepson, Keith Douglas Chase.

She was employed by G.T.E. in Grinnell after graduating and retired from the company in September 1998. After they both retired, Tru and Wayne enjoyed traveling the country in their RV until they settled permanently in Lampasas in 2012. Tru Ann enjoyed reading, antiquing, watching the Hallmark channel and cooking shows, spending time with her grandchildren and her family in Iowa, the sister's weekend she had with her sisters, and traveling. She loved her family unconditionally and held a special love for her grandchildren.

Tru Ann is survived by her husband, Wayne of Copperas Cove; her sons, Derek (Elizabeth) Chase of Copperas Cove, Texas, Keith (Yvonne) Chase of Rapid City, South Dakota; her grandchildren, Allyssa, Emily, and Brayden Chase, Ashley (Lance Yellow Robe) Hinmon; her great-grandchildren, Hunter and Colter Yellow Robe; her mother, Eva Story of Grinnell, Iowa; her sisters, Donna Story of Gardner, Kansas, June (Gregory) Golden of Tucson, Arizona, Robin (Steve) Pollock of Grinnell, Iowa, Angie (Jon Balm) Story of Brooklyn, Iowa, and Alison Lentz of Waterloo, Iowa; her brother, Phillip Myers of Durham, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

Tru Ann was preceded in death by her father, her mother-in-law, Dorothy Chase, father-in-law, Leonard Chase, and step mother-in-law, Leona Chase; sister-in-law, Gigi Myers; and her nephew Benjamin Earl Whisenand.

Tru Ann will be greatly missed by all those that loved her.
