JAMES CHARLES "JIM" KAHLER

James Charles "Jim" Kahler, 55, of Springfield, passed away at 1:33 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2000, in Cox Medical Center South after a long fight with cancer.

Jim was born January 10, 1945, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Charles F. and Norma Holmes Kahler. Jim grew up and graduated (1964) from high school in Grinnell, Iowa. He attended the University of New Mexico on a football scholarship, and also attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Jim served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a regional manager with the Phillip Morris Company, where he retired in 1992. Jim had been a resident of Springfield since 1981. He was an avid golfer and had a passion for good food.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles F. Kahler in April of 1991.

Jim is survived by his mother, Norma Kahler, St. Charles, Ill.; three sisters, Judy Lowe, St. Charles, Ill., Linda Kaneer, Denver, Colo., and Karen Argenta, Davenport, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, and a beloved cat named Sam.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Grinnell, Iowa. A private reception for family and friends is scheduled.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for Melanoma Research, 3322 S. Campbell, Suite R., Springfield, Mo. 65807
