Riley Keysor passed away at Dungerness Care Center on June 15, 2010, in Sequim, Washington. Riley was born in Keysor, Colorado on June 12, 1917.
Riley was preceded in death by his father, Ora S. Keysor; mother, Altha B. Keysor; brothers, Fred O. Keysor, and Kermit S. Keysor; sisters, Ruth R. West and Margueritte Jeffers.
Riley is survived by his wife, Evelyn, and his nephew, Richard West.
Riley enlisted in the U.S. Navy at San Francisco California on October 27, 1941, and went to boot camp at San Diego, California. He was on the USS Grenadier (SS210) in the South Eastern Pacific where they were attacked and put out of commission. The crew scuttled and abandoned the sub and were eventually picked up by the Japanese Navy. He spent time in various prison camps until September, 1945.
He remained in the Navy until 1962 and retired as a Chief Petty Officer, TMC(SS). During his time in the Navy, he served on nine submarines and one sub tender.
A service will be held at Sequim Valley Chapel on June 22, 2010, at 10 a.m., followed by a full military service at Miller-Woodlawn Cemetery in Bremerton, Washington at 1 p.m.
