SHIRLEY ANN GWIN

Shirley Gwin, 82 of Montezuma died September 7, at Montezuma Specialty Care. Services were September 12, at Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Memorials may be directed to "Beats 4 Becca," Rebecca Imhoff, www.transplants.org. Burial was in the Guernsey Cemetery, Guernsey. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Ann Gwin, the daughter of Kenneth and Idella (Shoemaker) Rupp, was born Oct. 25, 1934 in Iowa City. She attended schools in Chicago and Belle Plaine.

February 20, 1982 Shirley married Evan Gwin. In 1983, they bought Van's Tap in Belle Plaine changing the name to Shirley's Tap. They sold the business in 1988 and moved to Montezuma. Shirley worked for Diamond Life Care Center as a nurse aide for 20 years before retiring in 2008. She was a cargiver to many people.

Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to collect knick knacks, bowl, do little crafts and dance. She enjoyed socializing and was the life of the party where she loved people.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, David Jacobs; her brother, Dwaine Rupp and her sister, Leona Bendorf.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Evan Gwin; her children, Connie (Dana)Horst, of Montezuma, Sheryl (Roger) Yilek, Belle Plaine, Glennda (Frank Stanek) Mann, Grinnell, Larry (Rhonda) Jacobs, Missouri, Kimberly (Neal) Van Roekel, Montezuma; 21 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
