KEWANNA - Services for Robert H. Wentzel, 77, of Kewanna, Fulton County, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel.
Mr. Wentzel died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 1998, at his residence.
Born May 22, 1921, in Kewanna, he was the son of Harry and Emma W. Peters Wentzel. On June 7, 1947, in Kewanna, he was married to Doris E. Flaherty, who survives.
Mr. Wentzel was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served during World War II. He was a flight engineer on B-17s.
He was retired from Biomet, where he was a toolmaker. He also retired from farming and had built all of the buildings on his farm. He had a business at his home where anyone with a problem could come to him.
He was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge in Rochester.
An exceptional person, Mr. Wentzel could do anything he set his mind to. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Also surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary R. and Janice Wentzel and Alan H. and C. Bea Wentzel, all of Kewanna, and James M. and Carol Wentzel, Soddy-Daisy, Tenn.; one brother, Clarence Wentzel, Elkhart; two grandsons, James Robert Wentzel and John David Wentzel; six granddaughters, Angie Plummer and her husband, Bob, Mandy Wentzel, Stephanie Wentzel, Emily Wentzel, Alison Wentzel and Nicole Wentzel; and nieces and nephews.
One daughter, Lori Ellen, and one sister, Evelyn Scheub, preceded in death.
Burial, with military graveside services, will be in Bruce Lake Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
