LILLIAN G. RASMUSSEN
Lockwood, MOLillian Gwin Rasmussen, 95, left her family on earth to be with her family in heaven on May 10th, 2017. She passed away at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood, MO, where Greg and Nancy Rasmussen had been by her side daily. Lillian was born September 11th, 1921, in Carnforth, IA, to Alma Benton Gwin and Harry Morton Gwin. As a young girl she moved to Grinnell, where she was raised and graduated high school. On May 14th, 1941, Lillian married her high school sweetheart George Rasmus Rasmussen. They had 4 children together: Greg (Nancy) Rasmussen of Lockwood, MO, Bev (Kevin) Stelljes of Fall Creek, WI, Pam Paulson of Casper, WY, and Doug Rasmussen of Casper, WY. She is survived by her 4 children; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband George; 5 sisters, Shirley Monsma, Cathryn Souter, Harriet Braley, Lucille Lockhart, and Pauline Graham; and her one brother Bill Gwin. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School and also served on the Board of Deacons and Board of the Women's Association. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Bellevue Women's Club, member of the Officers Club at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Daughter of the American Revolution, Arbor Society, and Red Hat Society. Besides all of her volunteer work she helped out at her childrens' school, scouts, sporting events and Ballet (sewed many tutus). She loved doing ceramics and to this day we still enjoy the many gifts she created from her own hands. She loved to shop at the Disabled American Veterans store that she ended up volunteering there. At the age of 61 she went back to study to be a docent at Henry Dorley Zoo in Omaha, NE where she dedicated 25 years to educating the youth. Graveside Service will be held on July 14th, 2017, at 2:00 at Bellevue Cemetery.
