Kenneth L. Kriegel, age 75, of Brooklyn, died Monday, Dec 9, 2013 at Brooklyn Community Estate. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 12, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn with Fr. Brian Shepley officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn, Memorials may be contributed to Camp Courageous in his name.
He is survived by a brother, Glen Joe (Linda) of Brooklyn; and a sister, Mary Jane Rich of Nashville, Tenn.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; eleven brothers, Lawrence, Lloyd, Richard, Bill, Melvin, Gerald, Wayne, Louis, Lyle, Elmer, and James; and three sisters, Stella Henle, Marge Henle, and Gladys Healey.
Kenneth Luke Kriegel was born March 5, 1938 in rural Brooklyn, the son of John and Mary Roth Kriegel. He attended the Poweshiek County schools. Kenneth spent his time mowing yards, and painting fences when he was young. As he grew older, he was out driving the tractor with the baler. He enjoyed horseback riding, and socializing with his nieces and nephews. He loved to eat ribeyes and turkey legs.
