FRANK H. FUNKE

Frank Funke, 76, former plant manager for the Donaldson Co. plant in Grinnell, died Feb. 22 at Alpine Manor Health Care Center, Thornton, Colo.

Mr. Funke's remains were cremated, and the ashes were buried in Calvary Cemetery, St. Paul, Minn.

Born in St. Paul Sept. 28, 1913, Mr. Funke also lived in Chatham, Ontario, Canada; Borrego Springs, Calif.; and Westminster, Colo. He had been employed by Donaldson Co. for 40 years.

He came to Grinnell with his family in 1952 to open the Donaldson facility and served as plant manager until retiring to Borrego Springs in 1974. While in Grinnell, Mr. Funke was a member of the Grinnell Country Club, serving twice as club president.

He was diagnosed as having Parkinson's disease in 1981. Deteriorating health prompted Mr. and Mrs. Funke to move to the Denver area in 1987 to be near their daughter. His last four months were spent in a nursing home.

Survivors include his wife, Florence; his daughter, Jane Doyle; two granddaughters; and a sister, Charlotte Byrnes of Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark, in 1983.

A memorial funeral mass was celebrated Feb.22 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Arvada, Colo. Memorials in Mr. Funke's name may be sent to the church at 12735 W. 58th Ave., Arvada, Colo. 80002.
